Hey everyone! It’s been awhile, I know. This season has been absolutely crazy, with Fall and Christmas mini sessions nearly every weekend! It is finally starting to slow down, and I don’t think I’ve ever been more grateful for the chance to sleep in on a Saturday morning! Haha.
Today I wanted to share the most special session I’ve ever done. Alexis has been one of my best friends since 2013, and I had the wonderful opportunity to photograph her fiance Jagger getting down on one knee a few weekends ago. I have never cried so much from behind the camera!
Jagger had asked me about a month before the proposal if I would be able to photograph it. I can honestly say that I started bawling as soon as I read his first text message. I made a bucket list for the year in January, and photographing a proposal was on it. I never in my wildest dreams imagined that I would be able to photograph the proposal of someone who was so special to me! I was overwhelmed with joy.
To make a long story short, I convinced Alexis that I needed her and Jagger to be models for me for a shoot that I planned to enter in a Fall festival (all a lie, of course!), and that I wanted it to be at Max Patch. Alexis’ friends Ben and Jessie came up from Georgia for the weekend, and I convinced Alexis that I needed a helper (or two!) to hold my reflector during the shoot. She asked Jessie and Ben if they wanted to come help in exchange for a few photographs of them as well, and of course they said yes! We all met at Alexis’ apartment on that Sunday morning to head to North Carolina for the day.
We spent a few hours up on the mountain, alternating between Alexis and Jagger and Jessie and Ben as models. The lie about needing someone to hold the reflector ended up being totally true, because it was SO bright during most of the time that we were there!
I just have to say that seeing Alexis THIS happy makes my heart sing! It is so wonderful to see a friend that is so deserving find true love.
These photos are some of my favorites from the day, simply because I told Jagger and Alexis to just be themselves. Their smiles were infectious!
A little while before the big moment, we stopped to relax a while and take some photos of the group.HER EYES!!!
This next photograph is so special. This was the moment where I was mouthing “are you ready?” to Jagger while Alexis wasn’t looking. It is a photograph of them in their last few seconds as boyfriend and girlfriend instead of an engaged couple!
If this doesn’t show how shocked Alexis was, I don’t know what will!
This was right when she realized that we had all been in on a master plan!
And THIS was when she finally looked at that gorgeous ring! HA! I love the expression on her face!
Congratulations, you two! I can honestly say that witnessing your proposal was one of the most spectacular moments of my life so far!
